For many years psychologists have been focusing on the effects of stress at work. Funding is often directed to serious studies about the negative impact of human behaviors. However, a change change of heart was stirred in the psychological community after an experiment demonstrated how humor affects the brain and thinking skills.
In the late 70's Norman Cousins told the story about how he was able to heal himself from a debilitating chronic disease by watching comedy shows and films from Candid Camera to The Marx Brothers. He clamed that ten minutes of laughter bought him hours of pain and drug free relief.
